Now your old standard audio cassette tapes can be ‘Re-Built by Mom’ as modern CDs, for only $10.

Time marches on, and so does technology. 30 years ago, folks thought the standard audio-cassette tape was a pretty cool way to store and retrieve any sound recording. And they were! Easy to use, cheap and convenient, and WAY better than eight-tracks. Chances are you still have some of these standard audio-cassettes around the house or tucked away in the car, and maybe you even have some of your favorite music on them, or important and memorable recordings. If you’ve ever wanted to update your collection or safeguard your memories, now Built by Mom can handle it for you. Send in your cassettes, and in just about a week, I’ll send them back along with your music or recordings on CD. I can also do the reverse: I can take your MP3 files and put them on a cassette tape.

Cassette tapes can be of any length, and are priced per tape. Your CD will track properly for studio-published music tapes, and longer tapes can be put on several CDs or a DVD. They will be encoded as MP3s or WAV-files (your choice) and burned to CD. Files are produced in either High-Quality Mono or Stereo, depending on how they were recorded. Mom will keep a back-up copy of audio-files from your cassettes for 30 days, too!

• There is no minimum. One or two tapes is fine.
• I don't edit for content--no sound editing or doing just your favorites---sorry.
• I may, in dire cases, be able to clean up some scratchiness. Here's a before and after sample.
• Service is for standard-sized audio-tapes only, not micro-cassettes or VHS tapes.
• Note that most CD players will not play MP3 files, but your computer or ipod will

Interested? Here's how it works:

1. Collect all the tapes that you want to archive.
2. Make a payment of $10 per tape with a money order or PayPal. I do not charge a handling fee and shipping back to you is FREE.
3. Write down what format you want everything in, take them to any post office and send them to Built by Mom's mailing address. Make sure you include your address inside so I can mail them back to you.
4. I'll transfer your tape contents and ship everything back to you.
